The Descendants screenwriter Jim Rash, who appeared to make fun of Angelina Jolie at the Academy Awards on Sunday, insisted afterwards that he was not mocking the actress.
Presenting the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, Jolie had posed on stage with her right leg jutted out through her dress’ thigh-high slit and her hand on her left hip.
When he accepted his Oscar, Rash mimicked Jolie’s stance.
But the writer explained backstage, “I had just seen her pose and thought it was bold and fun.”
“And you know what? We have exactly the same legs,” he quipped.
Rash, who also stars on NBC’s “Community,” went on to call his move “a loving tribute and nothing but.”
Added his co-winner Nat Faxon, “Angelina’s supremely hot. There’s no way to do anything but honor her.”
